Publication Ethics Statement

The Journal of SAKAGURU: Journal of Pedagogy and Creative Teacher is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. In alignment with COPE practices, we ensure that all parties involved in the publication process adhere to rigorous ethical guidelines.

  1. Authorship

Authors are expected to follow these ethical guidelines, and violations may result in retraction of the article or a ban from future publication in the journal:

  1. Accuracy and Completeness: Authors must provide accurate and complete details of their research, including comprehensive information about the subjects involved.
  2. Originality: Authors must ensure the originality of their work, free from any fraud or fabrication.
  3. Prior Publication: Authors must guarantee that the article has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  4. Legality: Authors must ensure that their work does not contain unlawful statements or comments.
  5. Misconduct Compliance: Authors must adhere to the misconduct policies outlined in section F.
  6. Editorial Expertise
  1. Fair Assessment: Editors must assess manuscripts based solely on their quality, without regard to the authors' race, religion, nationality, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation.
  2. Timeliness: Editors are responsible for evaluating submitted manuscripts within a reasonable timeframe.
  3. Decision-Making: Editors must make decisions on manuscripts based on expert judgment and maintain communication with authors, providing reviewer comments alongside the final decision.
  4. Confidentiality: Editors must ensure that no personal information about authors is included in manuscripts sent to reviewers and must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts.
  5. Reviewer Requests: Editors must respect authors' requests to avoid certain reviewers, provided such requests are reasonable.
  6. COPE Practices: Editors must adhere to COPE practices when handling manuscripts.
  7. Review Process
  8. Peer Review: All papers will be reviewed by at least two anonymous reviewers with expertise in the subject area. Acceptance depends on scientific merit and suitability for the journal.
  9. Revisions: Reviewer comments will be communicated to authors, who may revise their papers. Manuscripts returned for revision can be kept for up to eight weeks.
  10. Editing: Accepted papers will be edited by native English speakers, with the editing service fee included in the Article Processing Charge (APC).
  11. Originality Check: All submitted papers will be checked for originality using Turnitin.
  12. Objective Assessment: Reviewers must assess manuscripts scientifically and literarily, maintaining high standards.
  13. Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential documents.
  14. Anonymity: Reviewers' identities must remain anonymous unless otherwise decided by the editor.
  15. Timeliness: Reviewers must complete evaluations within a reasonable timeframe and inform the editor if unable to meet the schedule.
  16. Evaluation Quality: Reviewers must provide thorough evaluations and explanations for their assessments.
  17. Public Health Concerns: Reviewers must inform the editor immediately if they suspect the manuscript might pose a threat to public health and safety.
  18. Conflict of Interest Policy
  19. Disclosure: Authors must disclose any financial support for their research.
  20. Unfair Evaluation: If authors and editors have relationships that could lead to biased evaluations, another editor will be appointed.
  21. Conflict Awareness: Reviewers must disclose potential conflicts of interest and return the manuscript to the editor if a conflict is identified.

  1. Research Misconduct Policy

This policy addresses misconduct in research conducted for the journal:

  1. Fabrication: Creating false data or findings.
  2. Falsification: Manipulating research materials, processes, or data.
  3. Plagiarism: Appropriating others' work without proper citation.
  4. Improper Authorship: Misrepresenting contributions to research.
  5. Interference with Investigations: Actions obstructing investigations into misconduct.
  6. Unfair Evaluation: Bias or misuse of research ideas during evaluation.
  7. Deviant Actions: Unacceptable actions in the scientific community.

How the Journal Addresses Misconduct:

  1. Ethical Obligation: Editors and publishers must support quality and ethics, ensure accuracy, and educate about misconduct prevention.
  2. Procedures: Systems are in place to investigate misconduct, cooperating with institutional or funding body investigations.
  3. Sanctions:
  • Pre-Publication: Manuscripts may be withdrawn from review.
  • Post-Publication: Retraction, editorial notes, corrections, or flags may be issued.
  • Other Actions: Banning authors from submission or informing other editors/publishers.

  3. Data Use: Names and email addresses used on the journal site are for journal purposes only and will not be shared.
  4. Animal Research: Authors must ensure compliance with guidelines for the ethical treatment of animals, minimizing harm and providing detailed procedures.

  6. Views and Responsibility: Views expressed in articles are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the editorial board or publisher.
  7. Permissions: Authors must obtain permission to reproduce copyrighted material and submit written permissions with their manuscripts.
  8. Software: The journal uses the Open Journal System (OJS) developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP).

  11. Fees: Publication involves an Article Processing Charge (APC), with all papers available online via open access.
