Submission Guidelines

Authors submitting to Language, Technology, and Social Media (LTSM) should ensure that their manuscript is original, within the journal's aims and scope, prepared using the current journal template, and compliant with the journal's editorial and research-integrity requirements.

Official Submission Route

Manuscripts must initially be submitted through the journal's Secure Manuscript Submission Form. Following verification of the corresponding author and submission information, authorised editorial personnel register the manuscript and metadata in OJS. Subsequent editorial screening, peer review, revision, decision-making, copyediting, production, and publication are administered through the journal's OJS environment.

1. Accepted Article Types

LTSM considers the following principal manuscript types:

Original Research Article

Reports original empirical, theoretical, computational, experimental, corpus-based, qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, design-based, or methodological research with a clearly articulated scholarly contribution.

Review Article

Provides a rigorous and critical synthesis of existing scholarship. Systematic, scoping, integrative, bibliometric, and meta-analytic reviews must report their methodological procedures transparently.

Conceptual or Theoretical Article

Develops, evaluates, extends, integrates, or critically examines theoretical, conceptual, or analytical perspectives relevant to the journal's scope.

Scope Requirement: Technology, artificial intelligence, social media, or digital platforms should not appear merely as a research setting or instrument. The manuscript must make a substantive contribution to language, linguistics, communication, media, speech/hearing, or language-related technology.

2. Basic Submission Requirements

Before submission, authors should ensure that:

  • the manuscript is original and has not been published in substantially the same form;
  • the manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal;
  • all authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to the authorship order;
  • the manuscript falls clearly within the Aims and Scope of LTSM;
  • the manuscript is written in clear academic English;
  • the current official LTSM manuscript template has been used;
  • the manuscript has been appropriately anonymised for double-anonymous review;
  • references and DOI information have been checked for accuracy;
  • ethical approval and informed-consent information are provided where applicable;
  • funding and competing interests are disclosed; and
  • all required supporting documents have been prepared.

3. Submission Files

File Requirement
Anonymised Main Manuscript Prepared using the current LTSM template and with author-identifying information removed for double-anonymous review.
Author Information Full author names, affiliations, countries, email addresses, ORCID identifiers, authorship order, and corresponding-author details.
Cover Letter A concise statement of originality, scope relevance, scholarly contribution, ethical compliance, and confirmation that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.
Ethics Documentation Ethical approval, informed-consent information, waiver/exemption information, or other relevant documentation where applicable.
Supplementary Material Research instruments, datasets, code, appendices, reporting checklists, multimedia, or other supporting files where relevant.

4. Submission and Editorial Workflow

1
Prepare the Manuscript

Use the current LTSM template and prepare all required declarations and supporting materials.

2
Submit through the Secure Form

Submit the manuscript, author information, cover letter, declarations, and supporting files through the official submission form.

3
Identity and Submission Verification

The editorial office verifies the corresponding author and submission information before registration in OJS.

4
OJS Registration

Verified manuscripts and metadata are registered in the journal's OJS environment and assigned an official manuscript identification number.

5
Editorial and Peer-Review Process

Administrative screening, editorial assessment, reviewer assignment, double-anonymous peer review, revision, decision, production, and publication are documented through OJS.

5. Editorial Screening and Peer Review

Submission does not guarantee external peer review. Manuscripts first undergo administrative and editorial assessment for completeness, aims-and-scope alignment, scholarly quality, originality, ethical compliance, methodological adequacy, metadata integrity, and overall suitability.

Manuscripts considered suitable are normally evaluated by at least two independent external reviewers using the journal's double-anonymous peer-review model.

For complete information, consult the Peer Review Process .
