Article Processing Charge

All articles published in Gender, Islamic Law, and Sustainability (GILS) are freely available online under an open-access model. To support the range of publishing services including editorial management, online submission tools, journal hosting, article production, similarity checking, and indexing an Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied.

Payment must be completed within 15 days of editorial acceptance. If full payment is not received, publication will be delayed.

Waiver Policy

The waiver policy exists to ensure that APC does not become a barrier for authors with financial constraints.

  1. Purpose
The journal supports equitable access to publication by offering fee waivers for authors facing financial limitations.

  2. Fee Waivers
Authors may request an APC waiver based on circumstances such as:

    • Financial constraints, particularly for authors from low-income institutions/countries.

    • High research quality, where the work makes a significant contribution.

    • Affiliation with partner organizations of the journal.

  3. Application Procedure

    • Authors should submit a waiver request along with the manuscript at the time of initial submission.

    • The request must include justification and any supporting documentation (e.g., institutional limitations).

    • The editorial committee will review requests and communicate decisions (typically within one week).

  4. Rights and Confidentiality

    • Granting or denying a waiver is at the journal’s discretion; decisions are final.

    • All waiver requests are handled with strict confidentiality.

    • Policies may be updated periodically.
